Amazon View Lodge Experience
Experience the Amazon with all five senses! An intense, authentic, and transformative experience.
This is not your average trip. It's an immersion in the Peruvian Amazon, navigating four of its most important rivers, sharing with local communities, exploring the rainforest day and night, observing Amazonian wildlife, and discovering why millions of people dream of visiting this corner of the world. For two days and one night, you'll enjoy experiences that combine nature, culture, gastronomy, adventure, and community, staying at Amazon View Lodge, a lodge located on the banks of the Amazon River in the community of Barrio Florido. Welcome to Iquitos. Our team will meet you at the airport or your hotel to begin this great Amazonian adventure.
At the Bellavista Nanay Port, we'll board our boat to travel the waters of the majestic Amazon River.
Confluence Phenomenon. We will reach the point where the dark waters of the Nanay River meet the waters of the Amazon River. For several meters, both currents flow together without fully mixing, creating a unique natural spectacle.
Don Gilberto Guerra's Monkey Island. We will visit one of the most renowned primate rescue projects in the region. Here we can observe capuchin monkeys (Sapajus apella), titi monkeys (Plecturocebus oenanthe), and woolly monkeys.
Yagua Community. We will learn about the cultural aspects of one of the most representative indigenous groups of the Peruvian Amazon.
Lunch at Amazon View Lodge.
Fundo Pedrito. We will observe paiche (Arapaima gigas), Amazonian caimans (Caiman crocodilus), and the impressive Victoria Amazonica (Victoria amazonica), the aquatic plant with the largest floating leaves in the world.
Dinner at Amazon View Lodge.
Night Hike. As night falls, the rainforest reveals a new face. We may observe Amazonian tarantulas, praying mantises, stick insects, amphibians, and many other nocturnal species. Overnight at Amazon View Lodge.
Sunrise over the Amazon River. One of the most beautiful in the world. (Our guide will repeatedly remind you of the activity's start time the night before. If you are not present at the indicated time, we will understand that you preferred to rest and will not disturb you by knocking on your cabin door.)
Search for Pink and Gray Dolphins. We will navigate through areas where the Amazon river dolphin (Inia geoffrensis) and the gray river dolphin (Sotalia fluviatilis) frequently appear.
Birdwatching. During the navigation, we may observe herons, kingfishers, hawks, cormorants, and many other Amazonian species.
Breakfast on board the Amazon River.
Piranha fishing: Dare to try it! What you catch can be part of your lunch.
Yanayacu and Giant Tree Expedition. We will navigate the Yanayacu River, known as the Jungle of Mirrors for the stunning reflections on its dark waters. We will enter a primary forest for an interpretive hike in search of one of the giant trees of the Amazon. During the hike, we may observe sloths, Amazonian monkeys, parrots, birds of prey, and other species in their natural habitat. (This activity is subject to river conditions and the seasonal rise and fall of the river levels.)
