Today, no company should neglect its social responsibility. As a young, innovative company from Loreto, committed to the social and economic development of our region, we present PARANA MAMA – Mother River. This social responsibility program highlights our company values. We are here promoting tourism on our beautiful island of Iquitos, and as locals who love our land, we couldn't ignore the environmental issues that have a significant impact on our city. We are here to make a difference, and a major step in that direction is the development of this program. The Peruvian Amazon is home to a great diversity of life; among its flora and fauna, we can find incredible living beings. It is also a vital source of oxygen for the planet.
Specifically, communities of people live along the banks of our Amazonian rivers, using them for food, hygiene, and, to a lesser extent, for trade, such as selling fish in the city markets. The diverse water resources of the Amazon, Nanay, Itaya, and Momón rivers are vital to our existence. These rivers surround the city of Iquitos. Iquitos is the city where we will implement the following social responsibility program, entitled PARANA MAMA – Mother River, in which the company Iquitos Experience Tours E.I.R.L. will contribute its efforts for the successful development of said program.
The PARANA MAMA – Mother River Program arose from the concern generated by observing solid waste—plastic bottles, polyethylene bags, etc.—in our Amazonian rivers mentioned above. This causes astonishment for many tourists who visit Iquitos, since tourist cities like ours should be environmentally protected, especially given their valuable natural resources. All of this impacts the lives of our Amazonian species and hinders the free development of riverside communities. However, through PARANA MAMA – Mother River, we will promote solid waste collection campaigns in our rivers and their surrounding areas. We will also promote awareness campaigns for Amazonian communities. Our company understands the problem and will seek alliances between young professionals and non-governmental organizations interested in cleaning our rivers. In this way, we will develop a comprehensive development model that works toward a single goal: caring for our Amazonian rivers and the well-being of our population.
VISION:
To be a leading program recognized for promoting environmental stewardship in all its forms in the city of Iquitos. To significantly impact those who do not practice caring for our rivers through environmental education and actions with great social impact.
MISSION:
To organize environmental awareness events such as solid waste cleanups in our rivers and environmental education training for riverside communities, in conjunction with volunteers, professionals, and employees of our company.
PROBLEM:
When visiting the various river ports and tourist attractions located along the banks of our Amazonian rivers, we can observe a variety of solid waste, including plastic bottles, bags, cans, and wrappers, creating pollution and a negative image for our visitors.
